Background

In 2004, Stonebaths (formally known as iBath) was established, pioneering the online retail space for bathtubs and basins. Embracing the emerging trend of online shopping, Stonebaths quickly became one of the first dedicated online stores for these products. Through innovative thinking and expertise in business design, I introduced unmanned showrooms, a novel concept in Aotearoa and Australia. Our holistic problem-solving approach is deeply ingrained in our organisational culture and long-term staff retention. Guided by cultural values, our team has built enduring relationships with the building and construction industries in bothAotearoa and Australia. Stonebaths proudly partners with major retail chains, including Mico Plumbing, Plumbing World, Reece Plumbing (AU and NZ), Chesters, Harrison Bloy and O’Briens.

My Story

Tēnei au

Throughout a diverse journey as an entrepreneur, author, athlete, and community leader, I have immense gratitude for attributing my business acumen, creativity, and leadership skills to the timeless principles of mutual trust, respect, reciprocity, and whanaungatanga instilled in me by my tupuna.

Leadership and mentoring experience were gathered during my time as a gang liaison officer with the New Zealand Police, before embarking on a career as a professional triathlete. As an adventure sports athlete, I recognized an opportunity to create a direct-to-consumer sports supplement range.

In 1999, I founded Red 8 Ltd, which quickly gained recognition as a trusted supplier of supplements in health food stores and pharmacies across Aotearoa. As the brand flourished, influential partnerships were formed, securing sponsorships with community sports collectives and professional athletes. To share my knowledge and insights with a wider audience, I authored a book called "Food for Sport," which serves as a comprehensive guide for athletes and enthusiasts alike.

In 2000, I established The Sports Food Company, an elite sports science supplement brand exclusively created for Progressive Enterprises. With its growing popularity, our products found their place on the shelves of Countdown and Woolworths supermarkets before being acquired by New Zealand's leading wellness company – Red Seal Ltd.

The quality of our Red 8 products continued to earn the trust of nutrition experts and led to endorsements by the Australian Wallabies for the 2011 Rugby World Cup. A collaboration ensued with the New Institute of Sport to develop a supplement program for the New Zealand 2012 Olympic team. In 2015, Red 8 Ltd was sold to the Todd owned Integria Healthcare company.

Concurrently, while building the sports food companies I founded a multimedia company - iStudios (2006). Dedicated to providing digital and online media solutions for Māori-owned businesses. Alongside this venture, I partnered with whanaunga Amokura Panoho and Te Puni Kokiri as a Māori business mentor to ventures within the Taranaki community. Through iStudios, Whenua magazine was launched in collaboration with Parininihi ki Waitotara [PKW], showcasing and supporting local initiatives. In 2016, my brother and partner acquired iStudios allowing the business to successfully remain within whānau, and for me to focus on the growth of a venture established earlier - iBath Ltd which went on to become Stonebaths, as it is known today.
